Central Bank of Ireland Legal Tender Notes 1961-1976 (A Series)

Non Sterling Format Lady Lavery Design (Types 11-14)


From 1961 on Irish banknotes ceased to contain the "Sterling Promise" in the bottom panels of each note, though the par currency link with Sterling was maintained. All denominations were printed by De La Rue.

Metallic security threads were incorporated into the design of the £1, £5, and £10 notes (Type 13) from 1971 onwards.

1976-77, Type 14: Murray, O'Murchu
