Northern Ireland Issue

Modern smaller sized Northern Ireland banknotes, 1980s


The 1980s and 1990s saw the inclusion of new high technology security devices in newer designs. Four banks had the right to issue their own notes in Northern Ireland, resulting in a large variety of notes in circulation. Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Banks (formerly issued notes as The Provincial Bank of Ireland), Northern Bank, and Ulster Bank.
