Northern Ireland Banks emerge

The Belfast Banking Company ceased operations within the Irish Free State, selling its branches within the state to the Royal Bank of Ireland. Consequently it did not participate in the Consolidated Banknote issue. Its notes continued to circulate in Northern Ireland until it merged with the Northern Bank.

Ulster Bank is notable in removing Dublin as a head office on its notes from 1926 onwards, listing only Belfast.
