Provincial Bank of Ireland, Series A

Seven Types by design variation known

Type G. Provincial Bank of Ireland banknotes, ca1870.

Proto-multibranch design
Additional printing of all 44 of the bank’s branches added on bottom left of each note

Provincial Bank of Ireland 1870 extra branches overprint
It is most likely that the list of branches was added to unissued notes that were in stock, prior to their issue around 1870.
The earlier dates on the £2 notes suggests that the denomination had a lesser usage than £1 and £5 notes, and were printed less frequently.
Other denominations were also likely overprinted.
